New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (NYEEI) is a 103-bed specialty hospital located
on East 14th Street in Manhattan. An Affiliated Teaching Hospital of New
York Medical College, NYEEI is widely recognized for excellence in the fields
of eye, ear, nose and throat care, with ophthalmology and otolaryngology
departments that consistently rank among the best in the country. More than
140,000 outpatient visits and 19,000 surgical procedures per year qualify
NYEEI as the largest provider of care in its specialties in America. New
York Eye and Ear Infirmary also is a recognized leader in plastic and reconstructive
surgery.
Founded in 1820, NYEEI is the oldest specialty hospital in the Western Hemisphere.
In addition to the outstanding quality of its clinical care, the institution
brings to Continuum a long tradition of community outreach, graduate and
continuing medical education, and scientific research. NYEEI was early to
recognize the shifting emphasis in the health care field to delivery of care
in outpatient settings, and adapted its operations to accommodate this trend.
Recent renovations incorporating the latest technologies have created highly
efficient and attractive facilities for ambulatory surgery, further enhancing
New York Eye and Ear Infirmary's reputation among physicians and patients
throughout the tristate area.
