Title: Sales Representative
Location: Various field locations
Reports to: District Manager

Position Summary:

Calls on health care professionals in assigned sales territory and communicates product advantages, features and benefits, plays a vital role in fostering the Company’s reputation and image. Is responsible for selling and promoting Daiichi Sankyo products in a highly professional, ethical and knowledgeable manner.


Essential Functions
Achieves or exceeds sales objectives through promotion of product features and benefits to physicians in assigned territory.

Builds relationships with physicians and key thought leaders by personally visiting offices and influencing physicians and healthcare providers to prescribe Daiichi Sankyo promoted products. Communicates product’s approved indications, advantages, features and benefits in both individual and group settings.

Analyzes customer needs and interests.

Complies with applicable laws in providing physicians with pharmaceutical samples and literature.

Represents the Company in a highly professional and ethical manner, and fosters the Company’s reputation and image.

Continually enhances product and disease state knowledge by participating in assigned training and completing outside reading. Keeps abreast of the products, applications, technical service, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with colleagues inside and outside of Sankyo Pharma.

Serves as a disease state expert and provides a high level of product expertise and customer service for all accounts.

Carries out all sales and marketing programs including occasional evening and weekend events in the approved manner.

Maintains all equipment and territorial records in the prescribed manner.

Utilizes sales force automation system and other equipment to enhance impact of sales call and territory management.

Transports materials (samples, visual aids, audio visual and other electronic equipment) up to 25 pounds into physician’s office.

Maintains a current key physicians target list, submits regular updates to the physician data warehouse and plans calls to meet frequency goals.

Submits complete reports, on-time, and communicates matters that are relevant to the marketplace, competition and the Sankyo Pharma marketing team to the District Manager.

Reviews territorial reports with District Manager and learns how to use reports and databases as instruments to achieve assigned goals.

Notifies the District manager immediately of any product complaints on clinical results or on the physical properties of divisional products. Expedites the resolution of physician problems/complaints.

Attends and participates in all required meetings and training programs.

Maintains frequent correspondence with District Manager and daily communication with the data warehouse in submission/collection of call data.

Maintains correspondence with co-promotion team members, to manage co-promotion responsibilities.

Education and Experience Guidelines

BS/BA.

Pharmaceutical sales experience with a background in cardiovascular medication preferred.


Must be able to travel to meetings and related sales events up to 40% of the time.
